February flew by, and on the Ides of March someone will DIE!

Whoops!  Darn, that February with only 28 days, sneaking up on me again!

Actually, it wasn’t that February is a short month that resulted in no blog/newsletter last month.  The truth is I was on deep undercover assignment to seek out the most utterly ridiculous laws in the United States that are still in place (i.e. technically still enforceable).  And I believe I found #1, which is: It Is Illegal To Have A Sleeping Donkey In Your Bathtub After 7:00 p.m.  This little gem, demonstrating this country’s irreproachable judicial system, is from the great state of Kentucky.  Go figure.

Not buying that?  Okay.  In reality, February was a slooooow month for us, with no performances booked, plus we experienced some setbacks regarding our next new show.  Add some personal unpleasant stuff on top of all that and I just didn’t have it in me to come up with a cheery February blog.  Oh, and the above law is real, by the way.  So, another quick blog just to update you on a few things.

First, the opening for our next new show, The Dick Van Dead Show, which was to be this Saturday, has been postponed until further notice.  The production has proved more challenging than expected, so I’m pulling in the reins and allowing further incubation until we are closer to a finished product as well as have a few performances firmly booked.  So, if you are a venue or know of one that would like to have the distinction of housing the World Premiere of our next new show, please fill out our Inquiry Form.  Also, we are looking for an actress who can impersonate Mary Tyler Moore/Laura Petrie, circa 1963.  If that’s you, please also click on the previous link to set up an audition.

So, was this Saturday canceled?  No!  In place of “Dick Van Dead” we are allowing Cherokee Ranch & Castle to host a rare public performance of the recently rejuvenated The Grapes of Death: A Vintage Murder Mystery, which is now only being offered to select venues & clients that normally does not include the Castle.  Ticket sales end this afternoon, so please call 303.688.4600 ASAP today if you want to grab one of the few remaining seats for this Ides of March performance!  Here is the performance info:

The Grapes of Death: A Vintage Murder Mystery

@Cherokee Ranch & Castle – 6133 N Daniels Park Rd, Sedalia, CO 80135
Saturday, March 15th, 7:00-10:30 p.m.

Journey back to 1942 as we join the Society of Winemakers Interested in Local Levity for their Vintage of the Year awards dinner, hosted by Society President, Anna Nutherplees. Three local vineyard owners will be competing for the title, including French war refugee Jean Pierre LaFoote and the very young new bride of one of the oldest winemakers in the area, Henrietta Hottentotten. Joining the Who’s Who crowd of celebrities and Society members in attendance are Victoria Lawless, mysterious local nightclub singer, and Cub Reporter Simon Spade of the Denver Post, who covers all the Society’s functions. When a death occurs, Simon fulfills a dream and becomes an unlikely hard-boiled detective to determine what happened and if international espionage is involved!

Due to slight sexual humor this show is rated PG. At least 6 audience members become characters in the show, so if you have someone you’d like to ‘volunteer’ for us, bring ’em along!

In the Castle Great Hall! $70/person includes limited exploration of the Castle, Performance, Supper Buffet from Gourmet Catering, Dessert and Coffee. Cash bar.

Seating is limited so please visit http://cherokeeranch.org/crcPages/murder_home.php to get your rezzies in, or call 303.688.4600. Doors open promptly at the listed start time and your timely arrival is appreciated by your fellow patrons.

Order an Official “Grapes” t-shirt today! Lots of sizes and colors available!!

So, due to  the delay for “Dick Van Dead”, our subsequent new shows after that have to be pushed out as well.  I am not speculating as to what the revised production schedule will be until I things with “Dick” firmly in hand.  Er… I mean… Oh, never mind!  Come on out and catch our sweet “Grapes” this Saturday, or, if you belong to a wine club/society, own a winery, belong to a country club, are looking for entertainment for a private corporate party or a personal party in your home, or have a charity that needs a fun fundraiser idea, please call me at 303.408.4246 or fill out the Inquiry Form at the link above.

Thank you, and hopefully more to come next month.  Until then, thank you, as always, for your continued support and word of mouth advertising!

Kind Regards,

Matthew D> Osmun – Owner/Director/Actor
