What Big Game? We’re back at the Castle!!

February 3, 2012

Brrrrr!  We’re in the middle of a blizzard as I type this month’s blog.  Hopefully everything will clear up and DIA will back back on schedule for flights by Monday as I head back to PA & NJ to visit family and friends!!

Happy February, everyone!  Hope this finds you well.  We’ve got a busy next couple of months and are very excited to share the news!

First we start of with Will & Grace: Who Killed Stan? this Sunday.  Yes, this Sunday, aka Superbowl Sunday.  Why do a show then?  Well, most of our actors are not football fans, and we figured there are enough other non-football fans who would rather entertain themselves by watching Will, Grace, Jack, Karen & Rosario try to solve a mysterious death.  Hey, it’s “Must See Murder Mystery”!  And we’ll be done with the show just as the Big Game actually starts, so really anyone attending will not miss anything or very little, if that.  So call The Broker Restaurant and make your rezzie: 303.292.5065.  It’s only $40/person, plus your bar bill.

Then, next weekend MO Productions will be represented on both Friday and Saturday!  On Friday the 10th we will have 2 tickets for any public performance in 2012 at Cherokee Ranch & Castle given away at the Colorado Children’s Chorale’s 2012 Beach Ball.  Please visit the preceding link for info and to purchase tickets for the event!  Then on Saturday the 11th we will be promoting a special fundraiser performance of Have a Holly Jolly Murder, this year’s holiday show, for Inter-Faith Community Services’ Nibbles and Sips event.  The show will be on Saturday, November 17th, but tickets will go on sale starting that night.  As a special bonus we have actors performing a scene and one of the songs from this musical murder mystery that night during the auction.  So come on out and support both of these wonderful organizations along with us!

Looking ahead to March, we are very happy to let you know that we will be back at Cherokee Ranch & Castle starting March 2nd with the final As Slain on TV.  You may recall that we mentioned last month that our January 15th show would be the last public “As Slain”, but the Castle requested that we perform it there and we just couldn’t say no! Tickets are on sale now, but they usually don’t last for long.  Here are the details:

As Slain on TV – Friday, March 2nd 6:30-10:00

@ Cherokee Ranch & Castle – 6113 N Daniels Park Rd, Sedalia, CO 80135

Reservations Required – Call 303.688.4600

$65/person includes Castle Mini-Tour, the show, gourmet buffet, dessert & coffee, with separate cash bar.

The following weekend we are excited to debut at a new public venue: Cebiche Authentic Peruvian Dining!  We will be there on Saturday, March 10th with Will & Grace: Who Killed Stan?

Will & Grace: Who Killed Stan? – Saturday, March 10th 6:00-9:00

@ Cebiche Authentic Peruvian Dining – 7000 E 38th Avenue, Wheat Ridge, CO 80033

Reservations Required – Call 303.386.4580

$40/person includes the show and three course meal, plus bar bill & gratuity.

We have more in the works for the rest of the spring, including a few leads for even more public venues, so stay tuned!  In the meantime I will be taking a much-needed vacation to PA & NJ to visit family and dear friends, including Cheryl Lynn, the Owner and Producer of White Rose Productions, the company I helped found and directed for before moving to CO.  Thank you all for your continued support and word of mouth advertising!

Kind Regards,

Matthew D. Osmun – Owner/Producer/Director

There is more news to come very soon, but until we have everything solidified we can’t let the proverbial cat out of the bag just yet, folks.  Stayed tuned and we should have big news in our February blog!  In the meantime, we hope to see you this weekend.  Also, don’t forget that MO Productions is available to perform virtually anywhere both publicly and privately, including in your home!  So if you know of a restaurant that you like to go to that would be a good fit for murder mystery, or belong to a club that is looking for something fun to do for the members, have them give us a call at 303.408.4246.  Your word of mouth is still our best advertising, and we appreciate the continued kind words and reviews we receive on our audience surveys and online.

Plan Ahead and Make Your Rezzies for Our Holiday Show!

November 6, 2011

Happy Hallowintersgiving to you!

Boy, the Fall is churning up some crazy weather for us here in the Denver area!  And while things may be running hot and cold outside MO Productions is percolating with activity!!

We are in rehearsals for our new holiday show, Columbo and the Case of the Country Christmas Killer, and the cast is simply having a blast.  We are featuring actors new and old with this show, and it’s a great fit so far!  The cast features Victor Ferrer (one of our Billy Mays in As Slain on TV) and veteran MO Pro actor Rob Purper (Jack in Will & Grace: Who Killed Stan?) splitting the role of Billy Ray Butternuts, Jaclyn Snyder (one of our Karens in Will & Grace: Who Killed Stan?) as Hannah Bonanza, MO Pro Stage Manager Dan Bergman as Bobby Ray Buttersquash, myself as Columbo, and newcomer Nancy Quines as Miss Kitty Bonanza.  Come attend Miss Kitty’s Christmas Jamboree and see what drama unfolds while we celebrate the season with dancing, singing and other merriment.  We’ve even been fortunate enough to have local Country-Western Dance Instructor Billy Whitaker stop by rehearsals and help us with our Two-Steppin’ and also choreograph a line dance for the whole audience to join in!  Thank you, Billy!!  If you want to brush up on your Two-Steppin’ or Line Dancin’, Billy teaches FREE classes every Wed, Thu, Fri & Sat at 8:00 p.m. @ Charlie’s Denver, 900 E Colfax Ave, Denver, 80218.  Come on out!  Maybe you’ll run into our cast gettin’ some extra practice in!

This special show is running for only 4 weekends at The Broker Restaurant starting November 27th, and seats are already starting to fill up!  This show is family-friendly, however gunshots are fired, so small children may get frightened.

We will actually be opening “Columbo” the weekend before Thanksgiving on Saturday, Nov 19 at Cherokee Ranch & Castle in Sedalia, CO.  However, this public show was been sold out for over a month!!  We were not able to add any other public performances at the Castle for this year, but are working on scheduling more performances for 2012 at this fantastic venue!  If you have never been, the facility is literally a castle built in the middle of a ranch.  Formerly a private residence, the castle is now part of the Cherokee Ranch & Castle Foundation and used for public and private events throughout the year.  Visit their website and join their e-mail list to stay in the loop about our performances there: www.cherokeeranch.org.  Our public performances there have all sold out within about 2-3 weeks from the time the reservations are made available!

Even though we are crazy busy with all this, MO Productions also getting our new 2012 season ready to go.  We are in the process of writing The Grapes of Death: A Vintage Murder Mystery, which will be a wine tasting/vineyard owners themed show set in the 1940s, and then also getting ideas ready for Match Game Murder Mystery and The Dick Van Dead Show, which will round out the end of 2012 into 2013.  And after the holidays we will start back up with our two current shows, As Slain on TV and Will & Grace: Who Killed Stan?

We will be taking a holiday break from December 19 through January 1 and will not be available for performances during that time.  However, you may call and inquire about booking us anytime at 303.408.4246.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support.  Your word of mouth is our best advertisement and we appreciate you, our audience, so very very much!

Showering You with Good News!

April 26, 2011

Wow!  Where did April go?!

Belated greetings for this month, everyone.  It’s been very hectic here juggling rehearsals for multiple shows and venues on top of spring cleaning and other things.

First, we were very flattered to be interviewed and featured in an article by John Moore of the Denver Post discussing the proliferation of Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre in Denver: http://www.denverpost.com/theater/ci_17745691.  We thank John and the Denver Post for their continued support, including providing MO Productions our own listing among the other theatre companies in Denver for performance listings.

Our newest show, As Slain on TV, is chugging along well and getting great audience feedback!  For the group participation in this show we’ve tried something we’ve never done before and having each table team up to present an improvised As Seen on TV pitch for some crazy new products and the results have been hilarious every show!  We have some great video footage of our Dress Rehearsal that we are in the process of editing and should have on our website and YouTube very soon, so check back!  This is definitely a great show to bring a group of friends to or have for your corporate party.  Speaking of which, we have a private performance of “As Slain” for a corporate party for Bank of the West coming up on May 5th, and we’re looking forward to making their Cinco de Mayo a memorable event!!  You can have MO Productions perform for your group or organization too.  We have extended the run of “As Slain” through January 2012.  Please call 303.408.4246 for info on booking a private show.

Join the zany fun and come see “As Slain on TV”!

Our other main show, Limited Engagement – A Musical Murder Mystery, continues to make ‘em laugh and sing along.  Our next performance will be extra special as Dan Bergman, our regular Stage Manager, has thrown his hat into the ring to play the Special Guest Star role of psycho nerd Taylor Davenport.  So who will be stage managing?  Peter Stone, our original Stage Manager and one one of the many Taylors we’ve had during this run.  It’s gonna be one helluva night on May 22nd at The Broker Restaurant!

With the warmer weather just around the corner, The Broker has decided to only have one performance a month from May through August, so be sure to see us when you can!  But that also means we’re available to travel to other venues and home parties, so give us a call and we’ll come to you!  Here’s our schedule at The Broker Restaurant:

Limited Engagement – A Musical Murder Mystery

Sundays @ 3:30 May 22nd & July 10th

As Slain on TV

Sundays @ 3:30 June 26th & August 7th

Shows are $40/person all-inclusive except bar bill.  Reservations Required.  Call 303.292.5065 for reservations and parking info.

Besides The Broker, MO Productions is thrilled to be performing at a new public venue starting in June!  We will be at Cherokee Ranch & Castle on June 24th with a special outdoor performance of Limited Engagement – A Musical Murder Mystery under their Veranda Tent.  Reservations are required and the cost s $60/person which includes Supper Buffet, Performance, Dessert and Coffee.  Cash bar separate.  This beautiful venue is situated on top of a hill in Sedalia, CO and is an actual castle!  We will be back there in October inside the castle for a special Halloween performance of The Return of Sherlock Holmes.  Tickets are already selling for both shows already folks, so if you want to see us there, call 303.688.4600 ASAP!  Visit www.cherokeeranch.org for more info.

We are in the process of writing our next show, Will & Grace: Who Killed Stan?  The buzz about this next show from our audiences is already getting us psyched.  We will be holding auditions in June:

AUDITIONS – “WILL & GRACE: WHO KILLED STAN?”

  • Monday, June 20th – The Cork House – 4900 E Colfax, Denver, CO 80220  6:00-9:00
  • Open Auditions – No appointment necessary
  • Cold Readings
  • Casting for Will, Grace, Jack & Karen
  • Call 303.408.4246 for more info

If you haven’t done so lately, please visit our website.  We have a new Performance Calendar that’s easier to view and navigate.  Also, we’re still looking for your help putting together our FAQ page, so send us your FAQs!  Been to a show and took some fun photos?  E-mail ‘em to us through the website.  Be sure to Like us on Facebook and become a fan.  Your word of mouth, literal or cyber, is our best advertisement and biggest support.  Thank you for helping us continue to grow and make ‘em laugh!

Enjoy this silly treat of dumb bunnies of the cast of As Slain on TV.  We’ll see you in May!

Jumpin’ for Joy in June!

June 14, 2010

Greetings and Happy Almost Summer!!

MO Productions is excited to share with you the great review we got from Bob Bows of the Denver Post.  He attended a performance of I Love Lucy… to Death and had a great time.  He recognized that MO Productions’ shows are full of “outright silliness” and combined with The Broker Restaurant’s “hearty menu”, we are a step above traditional dinner theatre fare!  To read the whole review, please go to www.coloradodrama.com/i_love_lucy_to_death.html.

Only 3 Performances Left!!!

Bob’s review has increased the number of reservations for the remaining “Lucy” shows, so if you haven’t seen the show yet, you better call soon!  The remaining dates are June 26, July 17 & July 31.  Seating is at 6:00 for all performances.  Reservations should be called in to 303.292.5065.  www.thebrokerrestaurant.com.

In addition to “Lucy”, our other production, The Return of Sherlock Holmes, continues to make audiences howl with laughter.  We’ve even caught the attention of the publisher of a Sherlock Holmes newsletter!  “Sherlock” will continue to run throughout 2010 at The Broker Restaurant, with a special performance this Saturday, June 19th,  as a benefit celebrating Denver Pridefest.  So make your reservation today and help support the GLBT Community Center of Denver.  Proceeds from the evening’s ticket sales will be donated to the Center.  Seating is at 6:00 and the show will go until 9:30, so you would have plenty of time to head out after the show and party the night away!  Call The Broker at 303.292.5065 today!!

As mentioned above, we will be performing at The Broker throughout the rest of 2010.  We are getting ready to start rehearsals for our next main production, Limited Engagement.  This show takes place at the engagement party of Lilly White and Dirk Forester, and as their friends and family celebrate, dark secrets unfold.  Will the wedding still go on?  Come find out, and enjoy MO Productions’ first musical murder mystery!!!  Limited Engagement will open on August 14th and every performance will feature a Special Guest Star actor in one of the roles, so it will never be the same show twice!  Be among the first people to attend Lilly & Dirk’s engagement party, and maybe we’ll make you part of the show as an audience character!  Don’t wanna get that involved?  No problem.  You can sit back and just enjoy the show.  But we always make at least 6 people in the audience actual characters in every show, so if you have a friend or family member you want us to shine the spotlight on, let our Stage Manager know when you arrive to the performance.

Here’s a rundown of all our upcoming public performances at The Broker:

I Love Lucy… to Death – Saturdays June 26, July 17 & July 24

The Return of Sherlock Holmes – Saturdays June 19th, July 10, August 28, September 25, October 30 (A Special Halloween Event!) & November 20

Limited Engagement – Saturdays August 14, September 18, October 9 & November 13

Seating for all shows is promptly at 6:00.  Shows run until around 9:30-9:45.  For more show details, please visit the MO Productions Website or The Broker Website.

And it’s not too late to think ahead for the holidays!  MO Productions and The Broker are already getting calls and e-mails inquiring about possible holiday party bookings in December!  That’s right, folks.  We’re getting calls now.  So, if you’d like to book an MO Productions show for a private party at The Broker or the venue of your choice, since we are a touring entertainment company, give us a shout!  We will be producing a special holiday show for December only called Have a Holly Jolly Murder.

If thinking ahead to the holidays is too much for you, how about just a great summer party idea?  Our Home Party show, The Hillbillies From Hell, is an easy solution for something different to do for extra fun at your backyard barbecue.  The show is smaller and shorter than our regular performances, and very affordable for a private home party.  Call us today at 303.408.4246 for more info!

Thank you, as always, for your continued support and patronage.  Please keep spreading the word, as your word of mouth is our best advertisement!  We hope to see you this Saturday for our Pride benefit performance!!
