January 9, 2012

Happy 2012, everyone!

We hope you enjoyed the holidays.  We had a nice break here and are gearing up for what looks like will be our biggest year yet!  Because we’re so busy this will be a short blog.

As Slain on TV is back from a few months-long break.  We will be performing it for the last time at The Broker Restaurant this coming Sunday, and are in negotiations for one last public performance elsewhere in March.  As soon as the paperwork is signed, we will announce that performance.  But for now, here is this Sunday’s info:

There is more news to come very soon, but until we have everything solidified we can’t let the proverbial cat out of the bag just yet, folks.  Stayed tuned and we should have big news in our February blog!  In the meantime, we hope to see you this weekend.  Also, don’t forget that MO Productions is available to perform virtually anywhere both publicly and privately, including in your home!  So if you know of a restaurant that you like to go to that would be a good fit for murder mystery, or belong to a club that is looking for something fun to do for the members, have them give us a call at 303.408.4246.  Your word of mouth is still our best advertising, and we appreciate the continued kind words and reviews we receive on our audience surveys and online.

Plan Ahead and Make Your Rezzies for Our Holiday Show!

November 6, 2011

Happy Hallowintersgiving to you!

Boy, the Fall is churning up some crazy weather for us here in the Denver area!  And while things may be running hot and cold outside MO Productions is percolating with activity!!

We are in rehearsals for our new holiday show, Columbo and the Case of the Country Christmas Killer, and the cast is simply having a blast.  We are featuring actors new and old with this show, and it’s a great fit so far!  The cast features Victor Ferrer (one of our Billy Mays in As Slain on TV) and veteran MO Pro actor Rob Purper (Jack in Will & Grace: Who Killed Stan?) splitting the role of Billy Ray Butternuts, Jaclyn Snyder (one of our Karens in Will & Grace: Who Killed Stan?) as Hannah Bonanza, MO Pro Stage Manager Dan Bergman as Bobby Ray Buttersquash, myself as Columbo, and newcomer Nancy Quines as Miss Kitty Bonanza.  Come attend Miss Kitty’s Christmas Jamboree and see what drama unfolds while we celebrate the season with dancing, singing and other merriment.  We’ve even been fortunate enough to have local Country-Western Dance Instructor Billy Whitaker stop by rehearsals and help us with our Two-Steppin’ and also choreograph a line dance for the whole audience to join in!  Thank you, Billy!!  If you want to brush up on your Two-Steppin’ or Line Dancin’, Billy teaches FREE classes every Wed, Thu, Fri & Sat at 8:00 p.m. @ Charlie’s Denver, 900 E Colfax Ave, Denver, 80218.  Come on out!  Maybe you’ll run into our cast gettin’ some extra practice in!

This special show is running for only 4 weekends at The Broker Restaurant starting November 27th, and seats are already starting to fill up!  This show is family-friendly, however gunshots are fired, so small children may get frightened.

Columbo and the Case of the Country Christmas Killer

Call and make your rezzies today!!

We will actually be opening “Columbo” the weekend before Thanksgiving on Saturday, Nov 19 at Cherokee Ranch & Castle in Sedalia, CO.  However, this public show was been sold out for over a month!!  We were not able to add any other public performances at the Castle for this year, but are working on scheduling more performances for 2012 at this fantastic venue!  If you have never been, the facility is literally a castle built in the middle of a ranch.  Formerly a private residence, the castle is now part of the Cherokee Ranch & Castle Foundation and used for public and private events throughout the year.  Visit their website and join their e-mail list to stay in the loop about our performances there: www.cherokeeranch.org.  Our public performances there have all sold out within about 2-3 weeks from the time the reservations are made available!

Even though we are crazy busy with all this, MO Productions also getting our new 2012 season ready to go.  We are in the process of writing The Grapes of Death: A Vintage Murder Mystery, which will be a wine tasting/vineyard owners themed show set in the 1940s, and then also getting ideas ready for Match Game Murder Mystery and The Dick Van Dead Show, which will round out the end of 2012 into 2013.  And after the holidays we will start back up with our two current shows, As Slain on TV and Will & Grace: Who Killed Stan?

We will be taking a holiday break from December 19 through January 1 and will not be available for performances during that time.  However, you may call and inquire about booking us anytime at 303.408.4246.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support.  Your word of mouth is our best advertisement and we appreciate you, our audience, so very very much!

Special Event October 19th! Reservations Filling Like Crazy!!

October 18, 2011

Greetings all you happy people!

Here is our second blog for the month, as promised.  We’re reaching the end of our first busy period of the fall/winter and gearing up for Round 2 very soon!

Wednesday, October 19th, Jack & Karen from Will & Grace: Who Killed Stan? will be making a special appearance at “Buying Wine Blind” at the Cork House Wine Restaurant, 4900 E Colfax Ave, Denver, CO 80220.  This event is an easy to understand seminar and wine party to show you how to read label descriptions and ratings.  Thus armed, you will be able to buy a bottle of wine in any store that you KNOW you will enjoy in any price range you choose.  The price is $20 per person and includes some appetizers and sampler wines.     This is going to be a very popular event, so please call The Cork House at 303-355-4488.  You will need a credit card number to hold your spot.  You can call the Cork House anytime on Wednesday for that evening, so come on out!  Jack and Karen will be “helping” with the presentation, if you get my drift…

This weekend we have back-to-back shows at two different venues!  On Saturday the 22nd we will be back at Cherokee Ranch and Castle with The Return of Sherlock Holmes.  This performance has been sold out for over 2 months!!!  We are really enjoying our relationship with the Castle.  They have added another public performance for our holiday show, Columbo and the Case of the Country Christmas Killer, on Saturday, November 19th, and… you guessed it: The new show is almost sold out already as well!  Call Cherokee Ranch & Castle at 303.688.4600 to make reservations ASAP if you want to see our holiday show there!  On Sunday the 23rd we are back home at The Broker Restaurant with Will & Grace: Who Killed Stan?  This performance features newcomers Will Willhide and Kathryn Gourley as Will and Grace, MO Pro Good Girl Gone Bad Jaclyn Snyder as Karen and myself as Jack.  Seating is getting full but you can still call The Broker at 303.292.5065 to make your rezzies up until Saturday night.  Remember, at only $40/person we are THE BEST VALUE for Murder Mystery in Denver!!

Will & Grace: Who Killed Stan?

We have started rehearsals for our Columbo holiday show and we’re already having a blast!  The Broker has been getting calls and reservations for our public shows there for November and December, plus we’ve been booking private shows as well!  MO Productions is available for private performances at any location!  If you’d like to book us for a private show at The Broker call Sarah Bourgoin at 303.292.5065.  If you’d like to book us for a private show at Cherokee Ranch & Castle call Amy Shanton at 303.688.5555.  If you’d like to book us for a private show at any other location, including your home, call Matthew Osmun at 303.408.4246.  We’re just about booked solid for the remainder of 2011, but we will offer “Columbo” through January for anyone wanting to have their holiday party after the holidays!  “Will & Grace” is available for private bookings as well!!

We would like to thank our Stage Manager, Dan Bergman, for coordinating our first charitable fundraiser that was performed on October 2nd and Todd Garrity and MO Productions own Tanya Obernyer for our fundraiser show the following weekend on October 8th.  We were very happy to help raise money for your respective causes, and hope to be able to continue helping the community when possible.  For information on bringing Murder Mystery Comedy as a fundraiser for your special cause, please contact us at 303.408.4246.  We offer extremely low pricing for fundraisers and deliver the same high quality comedy that earned us the title of Best Theatre Group on the Denver 7 A-List two years in a row as well as caught the attention of Metromix Denver.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support!  Your word of mouth truly is our best advertisement, and we wouldn’t be here without you, our audience.

Kind Regards,

Help MO Pro Raise Money for Rainbow Alley!

October 4, 2011

Happy Autumn, everyone!

There’s so much to tell you this month that we’ll have to send out two newsletters again.  We’re crazy busy at MO Productions and gearing up for our biggest autumn and winter to date!  So this newsletter will be brief, as I am juggling about 5 different things right now!

MO Productions would like to send special thanks to Heidi McGuire and Metromix Denver for attending the opening night of Will & Grace: Who Killed Stan? on Sept. 25th.  Heidi brought along a camera and filmed us before, during and after the show, and we were featured on the 10:00 News on 9News last weekend!  Here’s the spot:

You will note the plug for this Saturday, October 8th.  We are helping to raise money for Rainbow Alley, which is part of the GLBT Center of Denver dedicated to youth outreach and support.  It’s only $22 to come see The Hillbillies From Hell at tHERe Bar and Coffee House.  Your admission covers the show, light refreshments and your donation.  It’s going to be a fun, intimate performance of one of our campiest shows featuring veteran actors of MO Productions.  For those of you who know Jasper Nova, you will get to see the other side of Tanya Obernyer as the sassy and bawdy Maybelline Mudpatch.  She’s in a skirt, y’all!  Ya gotta see it to believe it!   ;-)   Here are the details:

The Hillbillies From Hell – @ tHERe Bar and Coffee House – 1526 E Colfax Ave, Denver, CO 80218

Saturday, October 8th – Seating promptly at 7:00.  The show will run until around 9:30.

$22/person, plus bar bill – Reservations Required and may be made online at www.cirquedugrivois.com.

Y'all ain't comin' back now. Ya hear?!

The next afternoon on October 9th, we will be holding open auditions for Columbo and the Case of the Country Christmas Killer and The Grapes of Death: A Vintage Murder Mystery at The Broker Restaurant, 821 17th St, Denver, CO 80202 from 3:00-6:00.  We have not been able to update our website’s audition page with the character descriptions, but we do have them available to see here: www.moproductions.net/Characters.pdf

If you have any questions regarding auditions, please e-mail us or call 303.408.4246.  We hope to see you there!

That’s it for now, folks!  I’m busy putting the final touches on the scripts for the two new shows plus rehearsing for Saturday’s show and prepping for the other performances this month.  However I will let you know that MO Productions is still available for your holiday party bookings, but not for much longer.  We will have to cut off booking availability soon.  Call us today to inquire about a private show!

Hello Everyone!

This blog will be short and sweet for August.

Please vote for MO Productions for Best Theatre Group on the Denver 7 A-list by going to http://ctvr.us/moproductions.  Voting ends this Friday, the 19th, at 11:59 p.m. Mountain Time.  We are in danger of not placing this year.  We had hoped to place higher than 5th like we did last year, but when we last checked we were down in 4th or 5th place again.  We need every possible vote, so please click on the link and vote.  It’s free and very easy to register.  The publicity gained by placing in the Top 5 of this contest is extremely helpful to a small business like ours, so we thank you for helping us out!

We have a new video in cyberspace!  Check out our video footage of As Slain on TV.  This show is one of our wildest ones yet, and is still available for bookings through January.  You can find the video on YouTube, Facebook and we will have it on our website very soon.  Please view it, Like it and share it.  Help increase our online footprint!

Speaking of selling out, our October 22nd performance of The Return of Sherlock Holmes at Cherokee Ranch and Castle is almost sold out!  When we checked a couple weeks ago there were only about 20 seats left.  So if you’d like to join us in contacting the spirit world with Madame Mariska at a castle the week before Halloween, you better call 303.688.4600 and reserve ASAP.
